A metric or formula for calculating proper intervals in the steady-state theory of cosmology. The Robertson-Walker metric gives the method of calculating distances in a homogeneous and isotropic universe. The steady-state metric is a special case that accords with the perfect cosmological principle and gives the relations for calculating proper distances in an unchanging universe.
